Pay Replacement For Workers Who Miss Work
Disability Claims for Sick or Quarantined Employees
Employees who cannot work because they have, or have been exposed to, COVID-19, can file a disability insurance claim, with weekly benefit amounts of approximately 60-70 percent of wages (income caps apply), ranging from $50-1300.
The Governor has ordered the normal one-week unpaid waiting period for disability claims to be waived, meaning employees can start receiving benefits for the first week they are out.
Paid Family Leave for Caregiving
Employees can apply for paid family leave if they are unable to work (and thus will lose wages) because they are caring for an ill or quarantined family member with COVID-19. Paid family leave also pays approximately 60-70 percent of wages (income caps apply) and ranges from $50-$1300 a week.
Unemployment Insurance Benefits for Reduced Work Hours
Unemployment insurance benefits can be sought if an employee's work hours have been reduced or operations have shut down due to COVID-19. Benefit amounts range from $40-$450 per week. Employees receiving unemployment insurance benefits must be able, available, and ready to work during their period of unemployment.
