Diversity at Murphy Austin

Murphy Austin is committed to increasing our firm’s diversity through recruiting and retaining attorneys and staff from all backgrounds.

This commitment is carried out by recognizing that our attorneys and staff have always been the source of our firm’s strength. We further recognize that promoting diversity is an integral component of our continuing quest for excellence as individual attorneys and as a firm.

Murphy Austin supports diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives and programs, which are led by the efforts of our Diversity Committee.

Diversity Committee

Our firm’s Diversity Committee is a focused working group comprised of partners, associates, and staff members. Our committee meets regularly to help identify and pursue opportunities that support diverse bar associations and DEI programs that encourage diversity, equity, and inclusion in our firm, profession, and community.

Support of DEI Programs

To ensure the consistent financial support of diversity, equity, and inclusion programs, Murphy Austin designates funds to enable every attorney at the firm to freely support and participate in DEI events and activities of their choosing as opportunities arise.

Murphy Austin is a founding member and supporter of The Sacramento Legal Employers Diversity Collective in coordination with the University of the Pacific McGeorge School of Law. This collaborative program is comprised of legal employers who are committed to addressing the need for diversity, equity, and inclusion in the legal profession by building more inclusive pathways to law school and providing programs that support students and lawyers. The collective’s efforts focus on programs that encourage students of diverse backgrounds to consider a career in the legal profession.
