Murphy Austin is seeking a full-time Healthcare Regulatory and Compliance Paralegal to join the Firm’s bustling healthcare practice. Our healthcare lawyers represent many kinds of healthcare providers, including FQHCs and other primary care clinic providers, hospital systems, medical practices, home health agencies, clinical laboratories, DME providers, and pharmacies.
The healthcare regulatory and compliance paralegal position requires exceptional interpersonal skills, as it involves a great deal of daily communication with the healthcare team, clients, and regulators. Primary responsibilities include:
- Collecting, reviewing, and managing data received from multiple clients used to complete and submit regulatory filings with various local, state, and federal entities. Requires a keen attention to detail, analytical skills, and carries a high expectation for accuracy.
- Regular interfacing with local, state, and federal regulators to assist with the preparation, submission, and tracking of regulatory filings.
- Researching basic rules associated with the preparation, submission, and tracking of regulatory filings.
- Assisting with or overseeing various administrative duties, such as: filing, creating tables and spreadsheets, scheduling conference calls, preparing correspondence and meeting agendas, and other tasks, as assigned.
The ideal candidate is highly motivated and organized, enjoys project management, and is able to move quickly between micro-level data tracking to macro-level project orientation multiple times a day. Must be a little bit tenacious and enjoy working in a fast-paced, team environment and must demonstrate a deep commitment to client service and producing a high-quality work product.
The ideal paralegal candidate will also have experience working in a healthcare facility or in the healthcare field. Experience using online healthcare regulatory platforms is strongly preferred (e.g., NPPES, Medicare’s PECOS portal, and the Medi-Cal PAVE portal). Familiarity with online healthcare databases such as CalHealthFind, California Open Data Portal, and DCA license lookup, is a plus.
The Healthcare group is open to training the right person who does not come with this specific knowledge and experience. Familiarity with government regulatory processes and applications are a plus, however.
All candidates must be proficient in the various Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), and Adobe and must have a paralegal certificate or meet the requirements for being a paralegal under California’s Professional Code § 6450(c).
Compensation for this position ranges from $92,000 – $126,000 (base salary) depending on skills and substantive experience. Murphy Austin offers a competitive salary and benefit package as well as a paralegal bonus program and hybrid schedule.
